Goowy should not by underestimated

Its been over 15 years since e mail emerged. We are lucky to be in the blink of any age where information is very important. More so, the ease of information availability is important. E mail has been one of the largest industry in respect to information since the web spring up. Almost 75% of the earths population use e mail. Some of the key players in the e mail industry are yahoo, msn , excite and google. Each company is try to give its uses a better experience and mainly, a better way to communicate. Each has its own unique feature or features. The war is still going on between these great companies. But there is an emerging e mail client that is about to join this war : Goowy mail. Goowy mail is a flash e mail client application. There is a lot I could say but all I want to say is “wow”. What we have being waiting for is here, bringing the desktop to the web. Goowy mail is offering to bring you desktop to the web. Not in the sense that you can see you actual desktop on the web but the design pattern is closer to desktop than anything else. Experience is a better teacher. Take goowy mail for a spin at www.goowy.com.

Google has done it again

There are two new products from google that provide a great experience just in case you haven’t heard. They are Googles new google talk (a chatting client) and google desktop search beta 2.

Google Talk:

I downloaded google talk this morning and took it for a spin and I must say it’s pretty good. It does not have all the fancy features like IM or YAHOO IM but its only in beta so we can forgive it for its flaws. I’m sure the next future release will certainly incorporate some of those fancy features like file transfer, grouping of friends (contacts ) and more. The only aspect Im not so keen about is the fact that you need to have a gmail account in order to use google talk. I don’t blame the company for using their new product as a marketing strategy to get people to flock to its email service but still ….. Least I forget, it also allows you to do voice chat. All you need is the essentials, a microphone and speakers. (no brainer huh).

Google Desktop search beta 2
If you haven’t heard or don’t know about google desktop search beta 2, I will advise you give it a try. Wow, all the information you need right in front of you. More search features including the ability to search different file types and their meta data like avi and more. I could go on and on but its best for you to take it for a spin. Love it.

Revolution: Flex on WebServer and not Flex Server

MM is paving the way for the next generation RIA development. The next generation RIA dev software: Flex, does not need flex server any more. The buzz is in the air. MM is doing away with flex server and replacing it with an ordinary webserver. That means, Flex will run on IIS or Apache or …. any webserver (so far as its supported by MM which the major ones will be ). That said, I think i can deduce the road map of Flex, the next big realise of Dreamweaver will have some major enhancement. Just as you can develop ASP, COLDFUSION …. on dreamweaver, we will also have to option to creat flex application. In setting up your flexsite, you will choose which Server to use (IIS / Apache ..) and boom, you will be home free! That’s to say Flex will be free. We wont need to buy a flex server. But of cause there is a hidden cost some where. haha. Yes, there is. In order to get Enterpise level feature (framework classes), you will have to purchase the flex server. We dont know what features are being extracted into the Enterprise flex server but hopefully, it wont be the case that we will “have” to buy the server just because the free version cannot go beyond the level of showing buttons and panels.
